OUR HISTORY 

Marcela Cardenas, our founder, was only 9 years old when her baby sister Azusena was diagnosed with leukemia. While Azusena battled cancer for the next eight years, her parents and siblings suffered as well. Marcela’s mother and baby sister were often busy with treatment, while Marcela and the rest of her siblings did their best to help their father take care of the home. With no close relatives nearby, Marcela and her big family struggled to make ends meet. She also served as a translator between her parents and doctors, as she was the only one who spoke English. This inspired her to vow to make a difference with her life.
